About our project

This site is dedicated to presenting new research on Russian, Soviet, and Eastern European science fiction by a group of international researchers, united by their enthusiasm for interplanetary space. Our members include Matthias Schwartz, Helena Goscilo, Yvonne Howell, Sibelan Forrester, Anindita Bannerjee, Asif Siddiqi, Muireann Maguire and other academics with a passion for Slavonic sci-fi.

    I likewise applaud the attractive design, but, especially in view of the members on this list, I suggest that the site address not only Russian sci-fi, but also Slavic/EE sci-fi. A more inclusive framework will avoid not only the unwitting reproduction of Soviet Russocentrism, but also the omission of such sci-fi talents as Capek and Lem.

    I quite agree, Helena, and thanks for the observation. I’ve changed the wording of the blog to reflect an inclusively Slavic range of interests.

    I agree with this project because the Sci-Fi is a great theme in Russian language and soviet period.
